Organizing a Team

UCAF will provide you with just about everything you need to make a winning team: boats, paddles, PFD (life jackets, etc), the practices time and all information you need to make this one of the most exciting water adventures of your lifetime. All you need to do is the manpower and team spirit.

A Dragon Boat Team needs to recruit minimum of 17 and up to 25 members that will consist of paddlers, one drummer, one steersperson (preferred) and 3 trained alternates.Each Mixed dragon boat team must have a minimum of 8 female and 8 male paddlers.

A team manager must be selected from the crew. The team manager will be responsible for team conduct and distribution of team information to all members. The team manager will also be responsible for submitting the team roster and waiver to the practice coordinator, as well as represent the team at the logistics meetings prior to the Festival. Upon registration, each team manager will receive a detailed rules and regulations to be distributed amongst the team members.

Age Requirement: A registered team member must be 14 years age or older at the time of the competition. All members under the age of 18 must present written consent of waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian before participating in practices and actual races.

Safety: All registered Dragon Boat participants must wear supplied and approved PFD (Personal Floating Device) at all practices and races. Each team member is responsible for his/her own safety at all times while engaged in activities related to practice and races in Dragon Boats.

Team Liability Release and Waiver Agreement: Each team manager is responsible for submitting the Team Liability Release & Waiver Agreement that has been signed by each and every team member. These forms are to be submitted before the team's first practice. No one can participate in practice or actual races without the signed Team Liability Release & Waiver Agreement.
